AUTHORITARIAN mě dostal. Authoritarian je i podle Oxfordu jednoznačně
negativní. Ovšem použití (1) u AUTHORITATIVE mi přijde významově
blízko, i když uznávám negativní nádech v tom není.
Spojení AUTHORITATIVE FATHER jsem dokonce našel ve velmi podobném užití
i třeba v této recenzi z Daily Telegraph:Similarly, as a man, Chabon
cheerfully plays the role of the authoritative father learnt from his
father?s generation in full knowledge that it?s an artifice, an elaborate
bluff, and that beneath it he is just as confused about the world as his
children. 'This is an essential element of the business of being a man: to flood
everybody around you in a great radiant arc of bulls---.? Manhood for Amateurs
is a fragmented memoir presented as a collection of essays grouped around the
various meanings of manhood today.
AUTHORITARIAN
believing that people should obey authority and rules, even when these are
unfair, and even if it means that they lose their personal freedom
an authoritarian regime/government/state
The school was very authoritarian and exam-orientated.
Father was an authoritarian figure.
AUTHORITATIVE
1
showing that you expect people to obey and respect you
an authoritative tone of voice
2
that you can trust and respect as true and correct
the most authoritative book on the subject
