AUTHORITATIVE je negativního významu, říká, že si někdo vymáhá autoritu, že trvá na poslušnosti ‚hlava nehlava‘. AUTHORITATIVE je naopak něco, co má váhu, co má autoritu, na co se lze spolehnout…ne­odporuje si tohle trochu? nema být místo toho druhýho to authoritarian?

Ne, přídavné jméno je OFFENSIVE, není tedy důvod přídavné jméno vytvořené uměle pomocí participia.

AUTHORITARIAN mě dostal. Authoritarian je i podle Oxfordu jednoznačně negativní. Ovšem použití (1) u AUTHORITATIVE mi přijde významově blízko, i když uznávám negativní nádech v tom není.

Značit jízdenku mi připadá logické a chápu, že je to správně, ale napsala jsem chybně DEVALUE, protože jsem si mylslela, že jsem někde četla : znehodnoťte jízdenku označením. To by nešlo v žádném případě?

Jenže DEVALUE neznamená znehodnotit ve smyslu učinit bezcenným/nepou­žitelným. Používá se v ekonomii (devalvace měny) nebo ve smyslu neglect/dispa­rage/belittle at­p.

Taky mě dostalo „authoritarian“, vůbec jsem netušila, že to existuje. Zas vím o něco víc!
