V Oxfordském výkladovým slovníku se u spojky “while” píše u bodu 3. a 4. následující:
3. used to contrast two things While Tom's very good at science, his brother is absolutely hopeless. Some people work better to music while others do not
4. (used at the beginning of a sentence) although; despite the fact that… While I am willing to help, I do not have much time available.
Není mi jasný rozdíl mezi těmito dvěma body. Neznamená to de facto totéž? Lze tedy vedlejší větu přípustkovou použít i v opačném pořadí – tj. While Tom's very good at science, his brother is absolutely hopeless. = Tom's brother is absolutly hopeless, while Tom is very good at science. I do not have much time available, while I am willing to help.
Díky!
