Zdravím,

měl bych dotaz k následujícímu úseku z knihy The Ultimate Woody Allen Film Companion (kapitola o filmu Radio Days):

Elsewhere, Allen allows his film to simply create a mood and resonate in it: the evocative sequence of little Joe's first visit to Radio City Music Hall (a scene that pulses with with Allen's own feelings of falling in love with The City and the movies), the warm scene in which he recalls his parents' only kiss, the touching memory of Aunt Bea waking him up to ring in 1944.

Jaký význam tady má “waking him up to ring”? Nepodařilo se mi nikde dohledat odpovídající význam.

  • to ring in (what? 1944, the new year) – uvítat nový rok, oslavit silvestra.
