I started learning English when I was eight years old. But it was not until the year 2009 that English became my passion. Unfortunately, the reason why I indulged in learning English wasn't a happy one. After a breakup I was wondering what to do with all of the free time that I suddenly had on my hands. Luckily my first thought wasn't to jump off a bridge but it was one less radical – I set myself the goal of passing an FCE exam. The preparation kept me going and prevented me from having sad thoughts. I was successful and in March, 2010 I passed the exam. Since then I haven't gone a day without using English.

I consider it my hobby. Watching films, TV series, videos on YouTube, reading books, interviews with famous singers, actors, listening to music, traveling, making friends…all these activities sound like fun, right? Not to mention, if you can speak English or any other language for that matter, you can study or work abroad, find new friends and maybe even your future husband or wife. Since it opens doors to many places, learning languages will definitely pay off in the future.

I think I'm somewhere between level B2 and C1, depending on the specific skill. I'm quite confident about my listening and reading skills. I am particularly fond of listening to English because I like the way it sounds and its rhythm. As for grammar, I quite enjoy learning it but all the rules are easy to forget. Much to my surprise, I quite enjoy writing in English now that I have plenty of opportunities for it. While traveling abroad I am looking for a chance to speak to the locals. Thanks to being able to speak English I feel more confident and independent in everyday life.
