The headmistress of a primary school in the English county of Devon has defended her decision to ban children wearing angel wings at the school's nativity play. As the play is being at a church, there are going to be candles and there is a risk that the synthetic or paper material that the wings are made from can easily catch .The decision was made shortly after last year's nativity play, during some of the children injured.

Though some say that this might ruin the children's and the audience's fun, the headmistress promised that she will make sure that the children will still look beautiful. She also pointed that there is no mention of angels having wings in the Bible.

A representative of an online fancy dress shop that specialises fairy and angel wings also had to say. He believes that this is a yet another example of political correctness in this country. His point is that candles are dangerous in any case. “It doesn't what the child is wearing, and the school should be asking: what is more dangerous, the candles or the wings?” He the ban ridiculous and says that it will spoil the children's fun.
