The Fox and the Crow
One day, a Crow found a piece of cheese. She flew to a tree to eat it in peace.
A Fox saw the Crow and wanted the cheese. He thought, “How can I get it?” Then he had an idea.
“Oh, beautiful Crow,” said the Fox, “your feathers are so shiny! I have never seen a bird as lovely as you. Your voice must be as sweet as your beauty. Will you sing for me?”
The Crow was very pleased. She wanted to show the Fox her wonderful voice. She opened her beak and began to sing.
But as soon as she did, the cheese fell from her beak. The Fox quickly ate it.
“Thank you, my dear,” said the Fox. “You have a voice, but no brains!”
Moral: Beware of those who flatter you.
