  7. We'd [= we had] (only) just started when the alarm went off.

Note that the „hardly + inversion“ („hardly had we …“) construction is formal, so we don't use it in conversational style and you're unlikely to hear 3. See this page (BBC Learning English)

The „no sooner“ construction sounds less formal to my ear, so you may hear 6 in conversational sty­le.

Sentence 7 is the most idiomatic way of expressing this idea.
