Ahoj, mám na vás prosbu. Do školy překládám jeden odbornější text a zrovna si nevím rady s tímto:
„How much knavery in actual progress in this wilderness of men in London might one *not hope to stop if this doctrine compenastion could be brought home?“
„How much company – promoting, fraud, mendacity, adulteration of food, could we *not render impossible, if ethical and prophetical teaching took the place of the Church catechisms and the creeds, if men could be persuaded in the eyes of the civil and criminal law – can only be purschased by the tears and ruin of human beings?“
V obou větách nerozumím tomu ‚NOT‘, ktere jsem oznacil hvezdickou. Jinak by mi to davalo smysl. Ale takhle to vlastne odporuje kontextu, nebot clovek by prave ‚mohl doufat v to zastaveni‘ nebo 'ucineni nemoznym 'ap. Nebo je to nejaka Ne podminka s COULD? Vazne nevim.
