Re: Re: Re: Re: Gaijin
My name has caused no end of troubles for me. You wouldn't believe how many
times I've gotten letters addressed to „Mrs. Kelly…“ It's frustrating.
Even though „Kelly“ is almost exclusively female today, even back a hundred
years, it was a guy's name. It means „warrior“ or „king“… Of course,
knowing that didn't stop people from making fun of me in elementary school…
In fact, it might
have just exacerbated the situation. But I've gotten over it.
Names like „Whitney,“ „Courtney,“ „Ashley,“ and „Leslie“ all
used to be boy's names, but, alas… And „Corey“ is swiftly becoming
girls-only.
„Kelly“ comes from Ireland, of course, and I guess it's through that that
I got my name. I do have an awfully red beard when I forget to shave (for a
month or two…). I'm convinced, though, that „Kelly“ used to be spelled
„Kelleigh.“
My middle name, though, is not a girl's name, although I don't go by it.
I never really felt like it was my name, y'know?
