Beddgelert is a small village in Snowdonia, Wales, with a famous story about a brave dog named Gelert. According to the legend, Prince Llywelyn left his baby with Gelert, then came back and found the baby's bed empty and the dog covered in blood. Angry and afraid, Llywelyn believed Gelert had hurt the child, so he killed the dog. Soon, he heard the baby crying in another corner of the room. Next to the baby was a dead wolf. He realised that Gelert had saved the child from the wolf.
Prince Llywelyn felt deep sadness for killing his loyal friend. To honour Gelert, he built a special grave in the village. Today, visitors can see a stone marking Gelert’s resting place in Beddgelert. Many people say this tale teaches us not to judge too quickly. Even now, it remains a well-known Welsh legend for visitors. Beddgelert gets many visitors who want to see Gelert’s grave.
